Our 10 en suite bungalows are designed in a traditional Swahili style with coconut thatch roofs in a tropical garden setting, each has a Swahili four poster bed, ceiling fan, veranda, sea view and sandy path down to our secluded pristine beach and the turquoise ocean.
The gardens are a tropical sanctuary for plants, birds, giant butterflies, dragonflies lizards and fruit bats. There are sunny and shady lounging areas with hammocks and loungers and a bougainvillea covered massage area offering relaxing and deep muscle massage.
Our pristine secluded beach, provides space for turtles to nest, guests to relax away from the hawkers, and for kitesurfers to sort their lines. The tidal lagoon out to the house reef is great for swimming, kayaking and perfect for kiters to set up, surf, jump and fly.
We use solar power to heat the water, and to provide electricity for lights . fans and electrical items
We do not have AC in the rooms or a pool. The prevailing sea breeze negates the need for AC and we have ecological issues with a pool in an island where the local population’s water supply is severely hampered by the hotel industry.
We work closely with local dive centres to ensure you will have the best customer experience as a novice or experienced diver wishing to explore our house reef, Kichafi or the many other local reefs including the famous Mnemba Atol and Leven Bank.
